Srinagar | November 29: Director Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Prof. (Dr.) M. Ashraf Ganie, on Friday visited SKIMS Medical College and Hospital Bemina and directed strict adherence to safety and precautionary protocols following a fire incident reported earlier in the day.
In an official statement, the Director SKIMS / EOSG said a high-level committee will be constituted to investigate the cause of the fire. He instructed Additional Director SKIMS, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Dar, to ensure the committee submits a detailed report within five working days. The Director further directed that written instructions be issued to the Principal, SKIMS Bemina, stressing immediate compliance with all safety guidelines.
During his visit, Prof. Ganie inspected key patient care areas, service wings, and both boys’ and girls’ hostels to assess the situation and overall safety preparedness.
He instructed the Engineering Wing, Security Department, and Fire and Emergency Services to implement urgent preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future. He also emphasized the need for routine fire drills, sanitation drives, and continuous monitoring to maintain safety and hygiene standards across the campus.
The administration assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and students.
