SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 24: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today chaired a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and concerned departmental officers to review the proposed revision of stamp duty rates for the upcoming year.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners to rationalise the proposed increase in stamp duty in accordance with prevailing market value rates, transaction patterns, and land-use categories. He emphasised the need to address anomalies in stamp duty rates, particularly in contiguous and adjoining areas, to ensure uniformity and fairness.

The Div Com further urged officers to ensure that revisions remain within reasonable limits, taking into account factors such as land use, commercial significance, and the level of development in different areas.

The meeting was attended by officers from the Forest Department, Registration Department, Public Works Department (PWD), Land Survey and Records, Agriculture Department, Industries and Commerce Department, Town Planning Department, and the Stamps Department, besides the Assistant Commissioner Central, OSD to the Divisional Commissioner, and other concerned officials.
