In a circular issued by the office of the district magistrate, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar said that it has been observed that some officials working in different offices of Srinagar District, after marking attendance do not remain available continuously during working hours at their seats, desks.

“It has been observed that some officials working in different offices of Srinagar District, after marking attendance do not remain available continuously during working hours at their seats/desks and some of them have been reported unauthorizedly out of office for personal work, leading to wastage of precious working hours as well as non-delivery of govt. services to the public. Absence from duties without prior permission, in absence of compelling circumstances amounts to breach of conduct rules”, reads the circular.

The circular further reads, “It is enjoined upon all officers/ officials not to leave office during working hours, else disciplinary action as warranted under rules would be initiated against the erring officer/ official. Moreover, each officer/ section in-charge shall ensure that no official is absent from his/her seat for any length of time without specific permission. Any dereliction in this regard would be viewed very seriously.”
