Dozens fell ill, admitted in hospital after eating wazwan in Langate

Several people fell ill and rushed to nearby health centre after consuming feast (Wazwan) served during a wedding ceremony in Bungam village of Langate in north Kashmir.

According to sources, the incident took place on Thursday when invitees of the wedding party complained of vomiting and severe diarrhoea.

Reports said that dozens of people of Bongam and Pohrupeth developed symptoms running nose, head ache and Gastrointestinal infection.

Soon after the incident they were rushed to nearby health centre where they all are being monitored and treated.

The condition of the admitted persons, as per doctors, are said to be stable and out of danger.

Block Medical Officer (BMO) Langate Dr Gowhar confirmed the incident to said that a team of doctors has been deputed to the area to collect the water and other necessary samples.

He said that the disorder happened due to Gastrointestinal Infection and people should not be worried.
