22 companies participated while over 150 candidates appeared in the placement drive

Principal Secretary School Education & Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today inaugurated Rozgar Mela at Budgam.
Mission Director, J&K Skill Development Mission, senior officers of Skill Development Mission, functionaries of PMKK(Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra) Budgam and representatives of various local and national companies were also present on the occasion.

22 companies participated in the placement fair and more than 150 candidates appeared in the placement drive.
While appreciating the companies for providing jobs to the candidates in different parts of the country, Dr Samoon stressed on creation of jobs at local level for those skilled candidates who are reluctant to move outside for jobs.

“The Government is trying its level best to provide best skilling and employment opportunities to the youth and presence of various companies in the job fair indicates that we are putting efforts in the right direction,” said Dr. Samoon.

Samoon also interacted with candidates undergoing training in various skills sets such as food & beverages, front office associate, sewing machine operator and general duty assistance and gained first-hand account about the quality of training being received by them.
Last week, Skill Development Mission resumed training activities in J&K with strict adherence to Covid-19 prevention SOPs and protocols.
