Srinagar, April 19: The Eco-Tourism Society of Kashmir has extended warm appreciation for the recent introduction of paragliding activity at the scenic destination of Doodhpathri, calling it a vital step towards enhancing adventure and eco-tourism in the region.

Convenor of the Society, Mr. Mohammad Shafi Wagnoo, personally applauded the Director of Tourism, Kashmir, for his visionary approach and continuous encouragement of innovative tourism experiences. “The Director’s commitment to promoting offbeat and adventure tourism is commendable. His focus on sustainable and experience-driven tourism is reshaping how we explore and showcase Kashmir,” Wagnoo said.
He also expressed his admiration for the Chief Executive Officer of the Doodhpathri Development Authority, whose dedication and on-ground execution made the launch of paragliding possible. “The CEO’s efforts in transforming Doodhpathri into a vibrant tourist hub are highly appreciable. Introducing such high-adrenaline activities in a naturally rich setting is exactly what our tourism landscape needs,” he added.

Mr. Wagnoo emphasized that the time is ripe for promoting activities like river rafting, recreational skiing for beginners, and eco-friendly experiences such as nature walks, bird watching, and guided treks. “Such additions help attract a wider range of tourists and provide fresh livelihood opportunities for local communities while preserving our fragile environment,” he noted.
The Eco-Tourism Society of Kashmir strongly believes that encouraging low-impact, adventure-based tourism is key to the long-term sustainability of the sector. It also urged for strict adherence to environmental norms and tourist safety measures in all such ventures.

With the successful introduction of paragliding, Doodhpathri is now poised to become a prominent destination for both leisure and adventure travelers, setting an example for other developing tourist spots across Jammu & Kashmir.
