The unabated killings, be it of civilians or the men in uniform is grieving and condemnable and is adding to the already miseries of the people of Kashmir who are caught in an unabated cycle of violence. The only question that keeps striking people’s minds is whether this monster of violence will ever end or keep devouring this paradise which nourishes the people who have earned the distinction for being the world famous in terms of hospitality despite swayed by the conflict for decades. The situation is taking ugly turn with each passing day and there seems to be no way out. In this context, we second the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti’s remarks last month that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi can take Kashmiris out of this situation. What separates democracy from other political philosophies is the principle and practice of solving differences through inclusive and meaningful dialogue. So, we feel that New Delhi should hold talks with all stakeholders irrespective of their political beliefs and without any precondition. We believe that dialogue at all levels should be inclusive and not conditional. A dire need to invoke the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is felt who talked about dialogue under the ambit of humanity. Prime Minister Modi, with a historic public mandate, should not shy away from carrying forward the legacy of Vajpayee and take this bleeding vale out of morass.
