Braving cold, thousands of devotees, including women and children, thronged the Hazratbal shrine that houses the relic of the Prophet of Islam (SAW).

The devotees offered congregational Friday prayers at the shrine.

Night-long prayers were also held at the shrine besides the mosques, shrines and Khankhas across the Kashmir valley.

Various religious and social organizations organized Seerat programmes and Milad processions were taken out at many places where speakers highlighted various aspects of the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The State Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Governor N N Vohra and leaders of other pro-India and pro-freedom parties have greeted people on the occasion.
