Srinagar 21 Apr : In a significant step towards strengthening youth employability and promoting sustainable livelihoods, ELFA International, in partnership with Sun Pharma, successfully organized a Certificate Distribution and Felicitation Ceremony for the beneficiaries of its Electrician Skill Development Program at Sarain Nud, Samba.
The ceremony was graced by the Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Ms. Ayushi Sudan (IAS), who attended as the Chief Guest. She was accompanied by senior district officials, including Ajay Kumar Bharti (JKAS), Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Samba; Dr. Vikram Singh Manhas (JKAS), Block Development Officer, Samba; Gaurav Sharma (JKAS), Tehsildar; and the Block Development Officer, Samba.
The ceremony also witnessed the presence of key representatives from ELFA International, including Nawab Mehran Khan, Chief Executive Officer; Iftikhar Ahmad Mir, Senior Vice President; Malik Abrar Altaf, Chief Program Officer; Ms. Heena Khan; Zuain Wani; Varun Khajuria; and Anil Kumar. Also present on the occasion was Ms. Priyanka Talwar, CSR Executive representing Sun Pharma, the CSR partner for the program.
The Electrician Skill Development Program, implemented at the community level in Sarain Nud, was designed to equip local youth with practical, industry-relevant electrical skills. Over the course of the training, participants were provided with hands-on exposure, safety protocols, and foundational technical knowledge necessary for employment or self-employment in the electrical sector.
A total of 50 trainees successfully completed the course and were awarded certificates during the ceremony. The atmosphere was marked by enthusiasm and pride, as bSeneficiaries shared their experiences and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gain employable skills.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the collaborative efforts of ELFA International and Sun Pharma in bringing meaningful change at the grassroots level. She highlighted that such initiatives play a crucial role in bridging the skill gap and creating livelihood opportunities for rural youth. She further assured full administrative support for similar programs in the future, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to fostering skill-based development across the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nawab Mehran Khan reiterated the organization’s vision of empowering marginalized communities through targeted interventions in skill development, education, and livelihood generation. He emphasized that partnerships with responsible corporate entities like Sun Pharma are instrumental in scaling impact and reaching underserved populations.
Ms. Priyanka Talwar from Sun Pharma also expressed her satisfaction with the successful implementation of the program, noting that such CSR initiatives are aimed at creating long-term social value and enabling youth to become self-reliant contributors to the economy.
The program not only recognized the achievements of the trainees but also reinforced the importance of collaborative development efforts involving civil society, corporate partners, and the district administration.
Looking ahead, ELFA International announced that additional batches of the Electrician Skill Development Program are already in the pipeline, aiming to extend the benefits of vocational training to a larger number of youth across Samba and adjoining areas.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the district administration, Sun Pharma, trainers, and all stakeholders whose support and cooperation ensured the successful execution of the program.
