The first T20 International of three-match series has been abandoned after rain came during England’s innings at The Old Trafford ground, Manchester on Saturday. Earlier, England batsman Tom Banton went hammer and tongs after Pakistan asked the hosts to bat on cloudy evening. Getting an opportunity to open the innings, the Banton has smashed a 42-ball 71, including fix gigantic sixes. After he went back to pavallion, Pakistan stormed back in the game taking 4 wickets for 14 runs.
Thus, the Eoin Morgan side couldn’t really capitalise on the start provided by Banton. Shadab proved to be a touch expensive initially, but it was the leggie who got the aggressive opener’s wicket and Pakistan turned screw on the hosts before rain stopped play. Rain stopped in hour of so and left the outfield too soggy, thus, the match officials called off the match. The second T20 of the series will be played on Sunday (Aug 30).
