Accused Allegedly Duped Job Aspirants Across Kashmir on False Promise of Airports Authority of India Recruitment

Srinagar, July 22 (KNC): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has filed a charge-sheet before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against four persons allegedly involved in a large-scale job fraud in which unemployed youth were cheated of lakhs of rupees on the false assurance of securing jobs in the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

According to officials, the charge-sheet has been filed in connection with FIR No. 36/2018 registered under Sections 420 (Cheating), 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) read with Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act.

The accused have been identified as Mohit Sharma alias Bhardwaj, son of Subash Chand Sharma, a resident of Sector-49, Noida, Uttar Pradesh; Mukesh Kumar, son of Harday Ram, a resident of Bara Tooti, New Delhi; Mehmood Khan, son of Wakeel Khan, a resident of Madanpur Khadar, Sarita Vihar, New Delhi; and Ram Lakhan, son of Ram Milan, a resident of Dumariyaganj, New Delhi.

Officials said the case was registered following multiple complaints received from different districts of the Kashmir Valley alleging that the accused had lured unemployed youth by promising them jobs in the Airports Authority of India in exchange for huge sums of money. The victims were allegedly deceived after being assured that appointments would be arranged through the accused.

During the course of investigation, the Economic Offences Wing collected evidence and found the allegations to be substantiated. After completing the investigation, the Crime Branch filed the charge-sheet before the competent court for judicial proceedings against the accused.

The Crime Branch reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against those involved in financial and employment-related frauds and urged the public to remain cautious of individuals or groups offering government jobs in return for money.

The EOW Kashmir also appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspected economic fraud or job scam to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing, Kashmir. Victims can also submit complaints through the official email address of the EOW for appropriate legal action.(KNC)
