Srinagar, Nov 4: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet against a Pulwama resident in an alleged Rs 35 lakh cheque fraud case before a court in Pulwama.

In a statement issued here, a spokesperson said that the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has filed a chargesheet in case FIR No. 44/2026 under Sections 318(2), 336(3) and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Pulwama, against Mushtaq Ahmad Yatoo S/o Ali Mohammad Yatoo R/o Chanpora, Rajpora, Pulwama.

He said the case was registered on the basis of a written complaint alleging that the complainant was in a partnership business with the accused. During the settlement of business accounts, an amount of Rs 35 lakh was found due from the accused.

To clear this liability, the accused allegedly issued a cheque to the complainant. However, the cheque was dishonoured by the bank as it had been issued in the name of the accused’s father, who had passed away two years earlier, and the accused had allegedly affixed his own signatures on it.
