Srinagar 19 Aug : Awami Itihaad Party Chief and legislator Engineer Rasheed Saturday called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhavan Srinagar.
As per AIP statement, during 45 minute interaction, Rasheed expressed deep concern over the conspiracy being hatched against Article 35-A by certain sections.
“Er. Rasheed apprised Governor about the sentiments of people over the issue and said that the law is in practice since 19th century and it has nothing to do with a particular community or the region and it were the people of Jammu who persuaded Maharaja to enact state subject laws and not to allow any outsider to purchase land in the state for the larger interest of people of the state.”
Er. Rasheed requested Governor to ask Government to hold an emergency session of the state Assembly to discuss this significant issue. He also requested Governor to apprise New Delhi not to encourage forces, who are hell-bent to drag J&K’s special status to the Supreme Court.
He requested Governor to pave way for conducive atmosphere in Universities where students can express their views without violence and sought revocation of ban on formation of student unions.
Er. Rasheed also discussed various developmental issues pertaining to Langate constituency including measures being taken to develop Bungas and Leepa as prominent tourist destinations.
