In view of growing number of coronavirus positive cases in J&K, the General Administration Department (GAD) has made wearing of face masks mandatory in all the offices of civil secretariat.

A senior official said that wearing of face mask has been made mandatory for all officers, staff and visitors in the civil secretariat.

The officer said: “All the administrative secretaries have been authorised to purchase masks, so as to provide three reusable masks to each employee of their department in the civil secretariat.”

The department heads have been directed that the expenditure on this account shall be defrayed from the office expenses (OE) head.

In the event of non-availability of masks in the open market, the administrative secretaries should submit their requirement to the department of Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) so that the required number of face masks can be arranged.

Immediately after directions from the GAD, Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production, Naveen Choudhary directed all the officers and staff members in his departments to wear face masks.

“I can easily feel you all have responded to call of public duty with so much enthusiasm and (are) reaching out to nook and corner of the State,” Choudhary to his officers.

“All directors are hereby instructed to procure and distribute masks to all officers and employees within two – three days. The compliance in this regard be reported latest by Saturday,” Choudhary directed his officials.
