Troubles don’t seem to be ending for controversial Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut after her derogatory remarks especially against farmers, who had been protesting against the three Farm Laws, and Sikh community. This time she was briefly stopped by scores of farmers on the busy Chandigarh-Manali National Highway near Ropar on Friday who demanded an apology from her for calling the agitating farmers ‘terrorists’, ‘Khalistanis’, and ‘anti-social elements’.

Up in arms against the actress, farmers including women, gheraoed Kangana’s personal vehicle at Bunga Sahib and blocked the highway by staging a dharna while she was heading towards Chandigarh from Himachal Pradesh with her personal security guards.

According to reports, the agitating members of Bhartiya Kisan Union had been following her from Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh and surrounded her vehicle after reaching Bunga Sahib in Ropar District of Punjab.

As the news spread in the area, heavy police force was rushed to the site and the police officials tried to pacify the agitators.

While surrounded by the protesters, holding flags, and sloganeering against her, Kangana took to social media to narrate the incident:

“I have been surrounded by a mob here. They are abusing me and threatening to kill me,” she claimed in a video posted on her Instagram account.

“This mob lynching in public. What would happen if I don’t have security with me? The situation here is unbelievable. Am I a politician? What is this behaviour?” Ranaut questioned.

Sethi Sharma, a leader of the farmer union said that Kangana had used derogatory language against farmers who were sitting on dharna at Delhi borders.

She had also used inappropriate language against women protesters participating in the agitation, and she should tender an apology before the women, he said.

A high drama prevailed on the highway for over an hour and only after that the actress agreed to meet the protesters. Initially two women were allowed to talk to Kangana, eyewitnesses revealed.

Tendering apology to the protesters, Kangana reportedly clarified that she never said anything derogatory for women.

Kangana’s clarification, however, contradicted her recent statements when the actress referred to opponents of the farm laws as “Khalistani terrorists” in another Instagram post.

“Khalistani millitant may be arm twisting the government today. But let’s not forget one woman. The only woman prime minister ne inn ko apni jooti ke niche crush kia tha (The only woman prime minister crushed them under her shoe) No matter how much suffering she caused to this nation she crushed them like mosquitoes at the cost of her own life Lekin desh ke tukde nahi hone diye (but didn’t let the country disintegrate) even after decades of her death aaj bhi uske naam se kaampte hai yeh inko vaisa he guru chahiye (even today, they shiver at her name, they need a guru like her),” she said.

The comment triggered a controversy and was seen labelling the entire Sikh community as “Khalistani millitant”. Following which a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against her in Delhi besides a summon by the Delhi Assembly.
