Farooq Abdullah calls meeting of PAGD on Saturday

Srinagar, Oct 15 : Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and former chief minister, Farooq Abdullah on Friday has called a meeting of the leaders of People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), on Saturday at his residence.

“All leaders are being contacted for attending the meeting to discuss the several issues,” a senior politician confirmed the development to Kashmir News Service (KNS).

 Similar another meeting under the Chairmanship of Senior National Conference leader and MP from Anantnag Hasnain Masoodi will hold another meeting of different parties in Jammu on Monday to discuss the granting of voter rights to outsiders.

“We will discuss the future course of action with regard to the Election Commission allowing outsiders to register as voters in the Union Territory besides the functioning of the committee which was formed recently,” he said, adding that Abdullah has spoken to the heads of mainstream political parties including Jammu based parties to join them in both the meetings.

 Various Political parties including Jammu based parties recently formed 14 member committee against inclusion of non-locals voters to chalk out future strategy on the issue of any attempt of manipulation and inclusion of non-locals in the revised electoral rolls of J&K.

Senior National Conference leader and Member Parliament Hasnain Masoodi is the convenor of the committee and includes senior leaders of PDP, DSSP, DS Sabha, ANC, CPIM, Shiv Sena, IDP, JKPM.

 “As decided in the meeting attended by senior leaders of various political parties under the chairmanship of Dr Farooq Abdullah at Jammu on 10th September, 2022 to set up a committee to chalk out future strategy on the issue of any attempt of manipulation and inclusion of non-locals in the revised electoral rolls of J&K, a leader said.

The members include , Raman Bala  INC,  Sheikh Ab Rehman former MP, Rattan Lal Gupta JKNC, Hasnain Masoodi JKNC,Dr. Mehboob Beg PDP, A S Reen  PDP, Gulchain Singh Charak DS Sabha, Chowdhary Lal Singh  DSSP, Manish Sawhney  Shiv Sena ,Hari Singh CPI(M), G.M Mizrab CPI,Muzaffar Ahmad Shah ANC, I D Khujuria  IDP and. Dr. M Hussain  JKPM.

Speaking to KNS, MP Masoodi confirmed about the meeting on Monday. “The meeting will discuss recent order of DC Jammu and other present pressing issues.”
