The maiden KEG election was held here last evening with veteran journalist and president of Kashmir Correspondents’ Club Yusuf Jameel officiating as the Returning Officer.

Editor of daily ‘Kashmir Images’ Bashir Manzar was elected as general secretary of the guild which was formed in December last year.

The ad-hoc body of the KEG was headed by Kaloo.

Other officer-bearers elected include Bashir Ahmad Bashir (Srinagar Times) and Sajjad Haider (Kashmir Observer) as vice presidents and Haroon Rashid Shah (Nidai-Mashriq) as treasurer of the guild.

The KEG has editors of all major local dailies and weeklies as its members.
