Fiction Writers Guild Holds 351st Literary Session in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 13, 2025: The Fiction Writers Guild (FWG) organised its 351st literary session on Saturday afternoon at its City Office, Hira Manzil, Central Market, Abi Guzar, Lal Chowk, Srinagar. The session witnessed rich literary discussions and thoughtful deliberations on fiction and creative expression.

The session was presided over by noted scholar and Head of the Department of English, University of Kashmir, Professor Mufti Mudassir, while renowned writer and academic from the Department of Urdu, Central University, Dr Rashid Aziz, attended as the chief guest.

In his presidential address, Professor Mufti Mudassir remarked that every writer or author has their own ideology and standpoint, which define both their distinction and individuality. He emphasised that remaining steadfast to one’s literary vision is the fundamental right of a writer.

Expressing his views, Dr Rashid Aziz stated that it is the creative and artistic excellence of an artist that differentiates them from others and ultimately leads them to recognition and success.

The proceedings were gracefully conducted by emerging poet and fiction writer Badr-un-Nisa Butt, while the session formally began with a welcome address by noted fiction writer and General Secretary of the Fiction Writers Guild, Naseer Zameer, who greeted all participants and guests.

During the session, two short stories were presented. Javid Ahmad Rathar read his English short story titled “Dead Night”, while prominent writer, poet and author Parvez Manoos presented his Urdu short story “Gungi Raat Ka Karb”. Both stories generated engaging discussions, with participants offering insightful comments and critically highlighting the strengths and areas of improvement in the works.

Both the presiding dignitaries appreciated the consistent efforts of the Fiction Writers Guild in promoting literature and nurturing creative talent.

Among those who attended and enriched the session were Professor Hamida Naeem, Hassan Anzar, Mubarak Lone, Dr Zamir Ahmad, Yasser Ahmad, Saleem Salik, Dr Shehzada Saleem, Tasneem Akhtar, Dr Takbeer Salati, Aram, Rutba Nisar, Javid Danish, Nazim Nazir, Arshad Mushtaq, and Naseer Zameer, among others.

At the conclusion of the programme, the moderator Badr-un-Nisa Butt proposed a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chair, chief guest, participants, and audience for their valuable presence and contributions.
