FINE TUNING OF SAFFRON TECHNOLOGIES, A message from Hussain Shah

“We have bailed out the Saffron crop from the brink of extinction(Skuast–K) as regards the generation of technologies viz., water quantification, it’s frequency, intensity, scheduling etc., nutritional management, disease investigation and remedy, other agro technologies like corm size, depth of planting, planting cycle, harvesting, separation of floral segments, post harvest techniques, grading, Packaging etc. Skuast-k, has to work hand in glove with the Spice Board and the Deptt. Of Agri.
With out mincing words, University with the meagre resources that too before the commencement of Saffron Mission, have addressed all the issues as far as I remember being at the helm of affairs at that particular time along with my team of scientists. All these techniques and technologies are almost one & a half decade old and need of the time is to fine tune these technologies especially water requirements and it’s scheduling as of now the irrigation system has been laid out reportedly.
