New Delhi JUNE 27 2020

The FIR was filed in Jaipur’s Jyoti Nagar Police Station against Ramdev, Patanjali Ayurved MD Acharya Balkrishna, scientist Anurag Varshney, NIMS Chairman Balbir Singh Tomar and Director Anurag Tomar for allegedly indulging in misleading propagation of “Coronil” as medicine which could be used to treat the infection.

Jyoti Nagar Police Station SHO Sudhir Kumar Upadhyay confirmed the news to India Today TV and said, “Yes, an FIR has been registered against Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, Balbir Singh Tomar, Anurag Tomar and one scientist, Anurag Varshney, of Patanjali.

The FIR has been registered in the case of misleading propagation of Coronil.”

Balram Jakhar, who filed the FIR, said, “FIR was filed against five people, including Ramdev for indulging in misleading propagation of Coronil.” The FIR has been registered under various sections of the IPC including Section 420 (Cheating).

Balbir Singh Tomar, who has been named as an accused in the FIR, claimed that Patanjali had permission to conduct Coronil trials on patients.

He said, “We had all required permissions for conducting the trial on patients. Prior permission for testing was taken from CTRI, which is a body of ICMR. I have papers to show permission.”

“Trials were conducted on 100 patients at NIMS, Jaipur and 69 per cent of them were cured in three days, while 100 per cent were cured in seven days,” he claimed.

He said, “The question of whether Coronil should have been propagated as an immunity booster or cure should be asked from Patanjali. We had informed the Rajasthan health department on June 2.”

Earlier, a criminal complaint was filed in a Bihar court against Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved MD Acharya Balkrishna, alleging that they have misled and put at risk the lives of lakhs of people by claiming to have developed medicine to treat Covid-19.

The court posted the matter for hearing on June 30.

While Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved has insisted that it broke no law, Rajasthan’s Health Department has served a notice to NIMS hospital here seeking an explanation on conducting trials of Patanjali Ayurved’s drug Coronil on coronavirus patients. ( The News Now )
