SRINAGAR 08 Jun : At least 13 shops were damaged after a major fire broke out in the bustling Bufliaz market area of Poonch district , causing extensive damage to commercial establishments and triggering panic among traders and residents.
According to reports, the fire erupted in one of the shops and rapidly spread to adjacent structures, engulfing a row of commercial establishments within a short period.
Thick clouds of smoke billowed across the market as local residents, police personnel and emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist in firefighting efforts and prevent the blaze from spreading further.
Officials said firefighting teams launched an operation to contain the flames and protect nearby structures. The fire was eventually brought under control after sustained efforts by firefighters and local volunteers.
Preliminary reports suggest that at least 13 shops sustained damage in the incident, although the exact extent of the losses is yet to be determined.
Affected shopkeepers said the blaze destroyed goods, inventories and business establishments, resulting in substantial financial losses.
No loss of life or serious injuries were reported in the incident.
