Signifying a major feat towards the economic uplift of the farmers, first Refrigerated Van with 9.0 Mts of Fresh Vegetables today left for Jammu here from Assar- the block of district Doda known for Vegetable production.

The first of its kind facility left was dedicated to the local farmers by District Development Commissioner Doda, Dr Sagar D Doifode, in the presence of SDM Assar Rishi Sharma.

The facility of Refrigerated Van will help in transportation of the local produce to the nearest Mandis and added new dimensions to the efforts of doubling the farmers’ income which is one of the main target of the UT Administration, the DDC added.

The DDC informed that directions have been already given to the concerned authorities to extend the maximum help to the local farmers, so that they can take maximum benefits of this facility provided to them by the UT administration.

He said that the agricultural department has been asked to notify the areas across the district which has a huge potential of vegetable cultivation and to provide them this facility so that they can sell their produce in the nearest Mandis at good rates. Meanwhile, the DDC also extended gratitude to the Principal Secretary Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare UT of J&K Navin Kumar Choudhary for allotting the facility of Refrigerated Van to the district to transport the perishable vegetables to the farthest distances in secure and fresh manner.

Others who were present during the program were ART0 Doda, Tehsildar Assar, besides other officers/ officials of the Agriculture department.
