Fish units approved in favour of 19 beneficiaries at Kupwara

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting of District Level Committee (DLC) for approval of the selection list of trout/carp units under centrally sponsored scheme ‘PMMSY’ and ‘Capex Budget’ 2021-22.

On the occasion, it was informed that the Fisheries department received 39 applications from potential beneficiaries for setting up fish units.  After scrutiny and proper verification of the applicants, only 19 applicants found meeting all feasibility requirements were selected.

The committee after holding threadbare discussion approved 13 trout and 6 carp units in favour of the beneficiaries.

On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned officer for framing of work order of the selected beneficiaries so that they can start their units well in time. He directed all the officers to work in coordination for facilitating the beneficiaries in setting up their fish units smoothly without any hindrance.

Earlier, the AD Fisheries informed the meeting that the target for this year is to provide 16 trout and 6 carp units to the beneficiaries. It was also informed that 40 percent of the cost of each unit is contributed by the government to help the potential beneficiary to earn his/her livelihood.

Chief Agriculture Officer, AD Fisheries and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
