Five gamblers held in Sopore, stake money seized: Police

Acting tough against the social crimes, police have arrested 05 gamblers in North Kashmir’s Sopore and seized stake money from their possession.

A Police spokesperson said that acting on specific information regarding gambling activities at Ningli Nursery, a police party of Police Station Tarzoo raided the specific spot and arrested 05 gamblers, who tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Malla son of Ghulam Nabi and Javaid Ahmad Khanday son of Ghulam Mohiudin, both residents of Mahrajpora Sopore, Abdul Rashid Malik son of Muhammad Sultan resident of Dogliteng Sopore, Shahzad Ahmad Shah son of Nazir Ahmad and Sajad Ahmad Parray son of Ghulam Muhammad, both residents of Tulibal Sopore.

“Officers have seized stake money of ₹22,500/- and playing cards from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody”, he said.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
