Srinagar,Mar 4 : Scores of Umrah pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir are reportedly stranded in Saudi Arabia following widespread flight disruptions triggered by the escalating conflict in West Asia.

Sources said the affected pilgrims are presently in Mecca, Medina and Jeddah after completing or nearing completion of their Umrah pilgrimage. Scheduled return flights to India were either cancelled or delayed due to airspace restrictions and operational disruptions across the region.

Family members of several pilgrims in the Valley said they have been in contact with their relatives, who are currently staying in hotels arranged earlier for the pilgrimage. Many are awaiting fresh travel advisories and revised flight schedules.

Officials indicated that Indian diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia are closely monitoring the situation and are in touch with tour operators and stranded nationals. The Embassy of India is understood to be coordinating with Saudi authorities and airlines to facilitate the safe return of Indian pilgrims once normal flight operations resume.

Authorities have advised pilgrims to remain in contact with their respective tour coordinators and embassy helplines and to follow official updates regarding travel arrangements.

The situation remains fluid as regional tensions continue to impact international air travel across parts of the Middle East. [KNT]
