Food Safety Department seizes 5 quintals of Namkeen snacks, seals manufacturing unit at HMT, Srinagar

Continuing its drive against sale of unsafe and sub standard food articles, a team of Food Safety Officers headed by Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety Srinagar inspected a Snack Manufacturing Unit operating from Abhanshah HMT Srinagar.

An official spokesperson said the unit was found without licence & operating under unsanitary conditions.

“Five quintals of Namkeen snacks were seized which included katlam, finni etc,” he said.

The samples of the same were lifted for further analytical purpose. The said unit was sealed instantly and prohibited from further manufacturing process.

Complaint under relevant sections of FSS Act-2006, Rules & Regulations-2011 will be presented before the competent court in due course of time.

The Commissioner Food and Drug Administration Smitha Sethi has directed all Food Business operators to strictly adhere to the provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act otherwise stern action under Rules shall be initiated against them.

Consumers can file their complaints if any on Toll Free Number 104.
