Food Safety deptt Anantnag conducts comprehensive market inspections at Aishmuqam

To ensure safe and wholesome food to general public and to check Good Hygienic and Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety department Anantnag Wednesday conducted intensive market inspections at Aishmuqam, Anantnag, targeting establishments dealing with meat and meat products besides snacks.

During the market checking, two enforcement samples were procured by the department for detection of prohibited food colours and a penalty of Rs.6500 was realized from erring Food Business Operators under Section 69 of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006.

Moreover, three FBOs who were found operating in absence of basic infrastructure, good hygienic and manufacturing practices as prescribed under law were booked under different Sections of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006.

In addition the Food Safety authorities of the district have reiterated its zero tolerance towards the unwarranted manufacturing practices, and have impressed upon the food business operators to avoid prohibited food colours in the manufacturing of food items and adhere strictly to norms governing the subject.
