Srinagar, July 8: The Jammu & Kashmir administration has served a show‑cause notice to ex‑Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azeem Mattu, accusing him of continuing to occupy the Church Lane government bungalow illegally beyond his entitlement period. Allotted during his 2018–19 tenure, the bungalow was required to be vacated in April 2019. Despite repeated reminders, Mattu allegedly remained in residence. His legal plea was dismissed by the J&K High Court on May 9, 2025. He has been given until July 15 to either vacate the property or justify his stay, failing which eviction proceedings under the J&K Public Premises Act will follow .
