Four gamblers held in Handwara , stake money seized: Police

Handwara Police on Sunday arrested four gamblers and recovered stake money in Langate area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

A Police spokesperson said, “On April 22, 2023 a police party of Police Post Langate while on patrolling near Shanoo apprehended four gamblers. Stake money amounting Rs. 19,380/- (Rupees Nineteen thousand, three hundred and eighty only) and playing cards being used for the offence were recovered from the gambling spot.”

“The gamblers have been identified as; Fayaz Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh Rasool R/o Goripora Dardpora Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Chopan S/o Gh Mohammad R/o Bumai Sopore, Showkat Ahmad Khan S/o Ab Majeed Khan R/o New Colony Sopore and Ishfaq Altaf S/o Altaf Hussain Shah R/o Hamam Sopore”, he said.

In relation to this, FIR No.87/2023 U/s 13 Gambling Act has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigation initiated.
