Atleast four tourists were killed in a tragic road mishap in Union Territory of Ladakh after a private vehicle (Jeep) falls into a deep gorge at Khardungla pass, Officials said on Wednesday.

Official sources said that due to fresh Snowfall in Khardangla pass of Ladakh a private vehicle (Jeep) were traveling skidded off the road and fell into 150 feet deep gorge due to which four tourists riding in it were severely injured.

Sources said that as soon as the accident was happened the Police, Army and local administration started rescue operations during which the injured were shifted to Leh hospital for treatment were all the four Tourist brought dead by doctors.

Station House Officer Nubra Mr Stenzin said that the condition of the road had become slippery due to fresh snowfall on. “Efforts are on to trace the vehicle,” he said.

He also said that all four bodies were airlifted to their native states.

They have been identified as Muhammad Feroz, Reyaz Ahmed and Azam Khan, all residents of New Delhi and Zeeshan Toufeeq of Muradabad UP. 

Meanwhile Nubea police have registered an FIR vide number 18/22 under sections 379, 337, and 304A and further investigation has been taken up.
