SRINAGAR 25 May : Fresh snowfall was reported from Minamarg and the Drass sector near Zoji La on Monday, bringing down temperatures sharply and covering higher reaches under a fresh layer of snow.

Reports said heavy snowfall lashed the upper reaches of Minamarg and areas around Drass near the strategic Zoji La axis, turning vast mountain stretches white.

The fresh spell of snow was accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperature, reviving cold conditions across the region.

Locals and travelers said snow accumulation was visible across higher elevations, while chilly winds and overcast skies added to the wintry conditions.

The snowfall comes amid fluctuating weather conditions in Kashmir and adjoining mountain regions, where intermittent rain and storms have been reported over recent days.

There were no immediate reports of disruption to traffic movement or damage, though authorities were monitoring weather conditions in the high-altitude sector.

Fresh snowfall in the Zoji La and Drass region often leads to a sudden fall in temperatures and impacts local weather patterns across surrounding areas.
