SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced that J&K’s harvested fruit is now being transported by train, marking a major relief for growers who faced the risk of losses due to delays on the National Highway.
The initiative, which took about a week of close coordination between officials of the Railway Ministry, the CM’s Secretariat, and the J&K Agriculture Production Department, has ensured timely movement of produce to markets.
“With the National Highway continuing to give us trouble, this has become a source of great relief for growers whose produce risked rotting because it wasn’t reaching the market,” Omar Abdullah said.
He extended his gratitude to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for responding promptly to his repeated calls and messages, which helped launch the service | Kashmir Pen
