Funds under PMAY Scheme Deposited in Accounts of Blue Eyed Persons : Gujjar Leader

A group of people belonging to the Gujjar Community from Aharbal area of District Kulgam headed by Ghulam Hassan Khan on Tuesday gathered at Press Enclave Srinagar and staged a strong protest blaming that the funds under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) Scheme were transferred to the accounts of blue eyed persons in place of the deserving ones.

While talking to said, “We had submitted our forms under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) Scheme. The money we have sanctioned is going to someone else’s account who already have concrete houses” he rued.

He added that in this regard they have already gone to BDO Kulgam & other concerned officers but nothing was done in their favour.

They appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to look into the matter & demanded a probe into the brazen funds scandal, so that the deserving persons get the already transferred amount.

It is pertinent to mention that Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana launched on 25th June 2015 which intends to provide housing for all areas by year 2022. The Mission provides Central Assistance to the implementing agencies through States/Union Territories (UTs) and Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) for providing houses to all eligible families/ beneficiaries against the validated demand for houses for about 1.12 cr. As per PMAY guidelines, the size of a house for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) could be up to 30 sq.mt carpet area.
