G M Shaheen, President of the Jammu and Kashmir of the Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday urged the Director of Floriculture to take action against employees who allegedly assaulted a Rising Kashmir journalist at Srinagar’s  Tulip Garden.

In a post on X , Shaheen appealed to the police to lodge an FIR against the accused.

The incident occurred during the inauguration of Asia’s largest tulip garden, where a ticket checker allegedly physically assaulted and verbally abused two journalists—Malik Faizan from Rising Kashmir and Mudasir from Jammu Samwad—as they attempted to cover the event.

Eye witnesses confirmed that the altercation escalated quickly, leaving the journalists shaken. The incident has drawn condemnation from the press community, with demands for strict action against the ticket checker.
