Ganderbal Police Kick Off Premier Football Tournament to Channelise Youth Energy

 Ganderbal, Mar 30 : In a concerted effort to engage local youth in constructive and sporting activities, Ganderbal Police on Monday inaugurated the Police Premier Football Tournament under the Civic Action Program at the Government Physical Education College Gadoora Stadium.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS. The event witnessed the presence of Principal Government Physical Education College Gadoora, Dr. Showkat Hussain, along with Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) Hqr’s Ganderbal Umer Urfan-JKPS, Dy.SP DAR DPL Ganderbal Altaf Khan-JKPS, and other senior police officers.

A total of 16 teams from across the district are participating in the tournament, showcasing the enthusiasm and sporting spirit prevalent among the region’s youth.

The inaugural match was played between FC Manigam and Comrade FC, setting an energetic tone for the competition.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Poswal emphasized the role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle. He reiterated that such initiatives are designed to strengthen police-public relations while providing a positive platform for young talent to demonstrate their abilities.

Ganderbal Police remain committed to organizing such events to channel the energy of youth towards constructive avenues and to cultivate a sense of unity and sportsmanship within the district, officials added. (KNS)
