Today a photograph of a shopkeeper from Ganderbal was circulated on social media platforms with the  intent to cause fear and  alarm to the public describing him as a new militant recruit. On verification, it turned out to be a mischief.

Police on verification found that the said person is a respectable citizen and is running a shop in Beehama area of Ganderbal. The family of the said person was in stress after this fake news appeared on social media.

The family has been assured of assistance by local police and in this matter a case FIR No. 46/2018 under section 505, 153 RPC has been registered. Investigation in the matter has been taken up. Strict action will be taken against the mischief/rumour mongers who are trying to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the valley.
