The philanthropic organization Global Peace Foundation from Jammu and Kashmir distributed ration and essentials among the slum dwellers and among migrant labourers in and around the Jammu city after the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world leaving millions of labourers jobless and on the brink of starvation.
The government has introduced multitude of measures to provide relief to the poor people but sudden lockdown has stuck millions of people at different places under work and unpaid for weeks together now.
In these crisis Non Governmental Organizations have come forward to the rescue of the people, who are providing rations and essentials to these people.
Global Peace Foundation has been continuously providing ration and other essentials since day one specifically targeting slum dwellers and rag picker shanties who are worst effected in the pendemic. The areas covered are around Channi Rama, Himmat and other areas around the peripheries of Jammu City.
While talking to the volunteers, they said that they have been doing all from the members contribution itself in small amounts to manage the all essentials. Besides the volunteers of the organization also provided masks and sanitizers to Police, Security personnel’s, Municipal employees and other front line workers across Doda and Kishtwar district.
