Srinagar, Sep 02: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Wednesday accused the Omar Abdullah-led government of failing to address public grievances, claiming that a protest that was initially planned on a small scale turned into a major mobilisation.
“This is a reflection of the failure of Omar Abdullah Sahib’s government. Where people are troubled, the issues and problems of the people are not being resolved,” Sharma said.
He said the protest was initially intended to be a “minor protest”, but claimed that a large number of people eventually joined the demonstration.
“For this, although we had kept a minor protest today, people have come out on the streets in lakhs,” Sharma said.
Sharma also accused the Omar Abdullah government of treating young people unfairly and denying them their rights.
“People have come out on the streets against the Omar Abdullah government, the government which has done injustice to the youth here, which has taken away the rights of the youth,” he said.
Describing the protest as successful, Sharma added, “Therefore, people have come out on the streets and today a successful protest has taken place.”
