Srinagar, Dec 16 (KNC): The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a Union Territory level Coordination Committee to facilitate the integration of the Village Prosperity Resilience Plan (VPRP) with the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the year 2025–26.
According to Government Order No. 1900-JK(GAD) of 2025 dated December 15 as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the committee has been formed to strengthen coordination among the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, State Rural Livelihood Mission and other line departments to ensure effective planning and implementation at the grassroots level.
The Administrative Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, J&K, will chair the committee, while the Mission Director, Rural Livelihood Mission, J&K, will serve as Member-Secretary. The Director, IMPARD, J&K, has been nominated as a member, along with Directors of Panchayati Raj, Agriculture, Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Animal Husbandry, Industries and Commerce, Fisheries, Social Welfare, Handicrafts and Handlooms, and Health Services from both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.
Other members include the Member Secretary NREGS, Nodal Officer RSETI J&K, representatives from the Department of Horticulture for the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), and a representative from MSME for the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI).
As per the terms of reference, the committee will focus on facilitating coordination among departments for preparation and integration of VPRP with GPDP and Annual Action Plans of line departments. It will also work towards ensuring convergence at the Gram Panchayat level, access to rights and entitlements for eligible community members, promotion of livelihoods, and implementation of social development plans to improve public goods, services and resource development at the village level.
The order has been issued by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to strengthen participatory planning and promote holistic rural development across the Union Territory. (KNC)
