Govt determined to broaden horizons of education for students of backward classes, remote areas: Sakina Itoo

Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakina Itoo, today flagged off a group of 250 school children for cultural tour to Delhi, Jaipur and Ajmer under ‘Watan ko Jaano’ Youth Exchange programme.

The 13 day tour is being organised by the Social Welfare department in collaboration with Union Ministry for Home Affairs.

Speaking on the occasion, Sakeena Itoo highlighted that this Youth Exchange programme will provide an exposure of social and cultural diversity of country to these young students.

“This exposure tour is a unique opportunity for EWS students from government schools of remote regions to learn and experience new things, which will benefit them throughout their lives,” Sakeena stated.

She underlined that the Omar Abdullah led government is committed to provide quality education for students of all backgrounds and regions. “Our government is determined to broaden the horizons of education for students of backward classes as well as of remote and rural areas”, the Minister maintained.

She further emphasized on the importance of such educational tours in broadening students knowledge as well as fostering holistic development. She also encouraged the students to document their experiences throughout the trip.

After the flag-off ceremony, the Minister also inspected the buses and assessed facilities available for the students. She also interacted with the students and asked them to take maximum benefit from this exposure tour.
