Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary Wednesday assured that the government is committed to addressing the concerns of daily-wage workers across various departments, including those working on an ad-hoc or contractual basis.

Speaking on the issue, he stated that the government intends to regularize these workers. However, the first step is to ascertain the exact number of daily wagers. Initially, the figure was estimated to be around 60,000, but a more accurate count is needed.

To gather precise data, a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, with a six-month timeframe to submit its report.

Once the committee presents its findings, the government will take further steps regarding the regularization process in the next budget, as assured by senior officials.

Deputy CM Choudhary reiterated that the government is fully sympathetic to the struggles of daily-wage workers and is working towards a structured resolution to their demands.
