Grand Mufti fixes Sadqat-ul- Fitr at Rs 55 Per Person

Sadqat-ul- Fitr, also known as Zakat-ul-Fitr, amount has been fixed at Rs 55/ per person for the Year 2020 by Grand Mufti of J&K Mufti Nasir Ul Islam.
Mufti Nasir Ul Islam while requested Muslims of Jammu &Kashmir to pay it as soon as possible, without waiting for Eid-ul-Fitr, as due to COVID-19 Lockdown & restrictions, large number of families are badly suffering.
Mufti Nasir-ul Islam said that Sadqa and Zakat is Wajib (mandatory) upon such a person who owns assets, which equal the value of the Nisab.
The owner of Nisab in the ruling as regards Sadaqat-al-Fitr is such a person who has 7 1/2 tola gold (93 grams 312 milligrams) or 52 1/2 tola silver (653 grams 184 milligrams), or any other form of asset .
“Each person should give away in charity an amount equivalent to 1.760 kilograms of wheat,” he added.
He said that given the financial problems, the poor class in due to the COVID-19 outbreak, people should not wait for ending days of Ramazan and should pay their Zakaat and Sadqat as soon as possible.
The amount of Sadqat-ul- Fitr is same for everyone, regardless of the amount he earns, he said.
