Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Cultural Academy Host Prestigious Book Launch

Hailed as a Significant Contribution to Literary Criticism

Srinagar, April 19, 2026: A dignified literary function was organized at the Seminar Hall of the Academy at Lal Mandi under the aegis of Adabi Markaz Kamraz in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.

The event marked the formal release of “Qalam Tarash”, a collection of critical essays authored by noted writer, poet, and former Head of All India Radio Srinagar, Rafiq Raaz.

The function was presided over by eminent writer and literary figure Ayaz Rasool Nazki. Other dignitaries present on the dais included Dr. Nazir Azad, President of Adabi Markaz Kamraz Mohammad Amin Bhat, Patron Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, Editor (Kashmiri) of the Cultural Academy Javid Iqbal Khan, and the author Rafiq Raaz.

The proceedings began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Arshad Mohi-ud-Din, followed by a soulful Naat presented by renowned broadcaster and Naat reciter Ghulam Hassan Ghamgeen, which added a spiritual aura to the gathering.

In his welcome address, Mohammad Amin Bhat warmly received the guests and participants, stating that Rafiq Raaz is among those writers who consider literature not merely as creative expression but as a serious responsibility. He described “Qalam Tarash” as a meaningful effort to strengthen critical consciousness in literature.

Presenting a detailed paper on the book, Dr. Nazir Azad termed “Qalam Tarash” a comprehensive intellectual and critical document, highlighting that the author has examined various dimensions of literature with keen insight. He further noted that Raaz’s style is serious, balanced, and intellectually profound, inviting readers into a meaningful dialogue.

Dr. Rafiq Masoodi, in his remarks, said that Adabi Markaz Kamraz has always been committed to promoting quality literature and that this work would encourage serious literary discourse.

Syed Saad-ud-Din Saadi also shared his views on the significance of the event.

In his address, the author Rafiq Raaz expressed gratitude to Adabi Markaz Kamraz and the Cultural Academy, stating that “Qalam Tarash” is the outcome of his long study, experience, and intellectual pursuit. He emphasised his effort to keep literary criticism vibrant and meaningful, fostering a strong connection between literature and readers.

In his presidential remarks, Ayaz Rasool Nazki observed that works like “Qalam Tarash” play a vital role in carrying forward literary traditions and strengthening critical awareness.

At the conclusion of the event, Javid Iqbal Khan thanked the guests, participants, and media representatives, stating that such literary gatherings not only promote creative and critical activities but also build a meaningful bridge between writers and readers. He appreciated the efforts of Adabi Markaz Kamraz and assured continued support from the Cultural Academy for such initiatives.

The proceedings of the event were conducted by Shabnam Tilgami, General Secretary of Adabi Markaz Kamraz.
