SRINAGAR, MAR 14 : Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that Gulmarg will be an international destination for Winter Games in the future.
Sports Minister Rijiju said that special emphasis are being put into work to promote Gulmarg as the international destination for skiing and other sports. 
He said that mega-sports complex will be spread over 270 kanals of land at Hiranagar in the Jammu region with an estimated cost of Rs 58.23 crore which is being undertaken under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP).
The Centre has been providing sports infrastructure to all States. “We are improving facilities so that we can host the Olympics in the coming years. India stands first in the world in terms of the youth population. The youth have many opportunities and they should make use of them,” he said. “We have launched Fit India programme to encourage fitness among people,” he said.
He said that youth of J&K are very much talented and are showcasing their talent in football and various steps are being taken the infrastructure so that youth can show their talent.
