A gunfight has raged in Kishtwar forests between militants and the goverment forces on Friday.

In a statement, Jammu and Kashmir Police said that four days ago, two Special Police Officers (SPOs) of Kishtwar district were attacked by two suspects of Dachan area with axes. In the attack, one SPO was killed and another was injured. A police party rushed and gave a chase through jungles and mountainous terrain.
They were reinforced with additional police parties and local army unit. Some time back contact established and exchange of fire started. (GNS)
