Srinagar/Jammu, July 22 Heavy rainfall during the wee hours on Tuesday triggered mudslides and shooting stones at multiple locations along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), disrupting traffic movement in the Udhampur and Ramban sectors.
Officials said the affected stretches include the uptube in Udhampur district and the downtube in Ramban district, where continuous rainfall led to landslides and falling rocks, posing a serious threat to commuters.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been informed, and clearance operations have been initiated to remove the debris and restore traffic at the earliest.
Authorities have strongly advised commuters not to undertake unnecessary travel on NH-44 until weather conditions improve and the highway is fully cleared and declared safe for movement.
Travelers are urged to follow official traffic advisories and check the latest road status before planning their journey.(KNC)
