Cellular companies have snapped high-speed mobile Internet service in Srinagar city in view of a gunfight between militants and government forces in Karan Nagar area of the city.
A telecom official said the high speed mobile Internet service was suspended in the city after a directive from the security agencies.

“The mobile internet speed was reduced to 2G as soon as we got the order to do so,” said the official.
A paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable was killed and a policeman critically injured in the ongoing firefight in Karan Nagar area.
Reports said that two militants who had taken cover inside an abandoned building near a CRPF camp in Karan Nagar opened fire after forces launched searches in the area.
Two militants carrying bags and AK-47 rifles were seen by the sentry approaching the camp of the 23 battalion of CRPF in Karan Nagar area around 4.30 am, reports added.
