Higher Education Deptt orders promotion of 200 Associate, Assistant Professors

Department of Higher Education today ordered promotion of 200 Associate and Assistant Professors serving in various Government Degree Colleges across the Jammu and Kashmir.

“Department promoted 54 Associate Professors as In-Charge Principals while as 30 Assistant Professors were promoted in the Academic Grade pay of Rs. 7000 and 109 Assistant Professors were promoted in the Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 8000,” a statement of the Department said.

With the promotion of 54 Associate Professors (including in 50 new degree colleges), all the 148 Government Degree Colleges of the J&K have now got independent Principals.

Further with the release of higher grade, a long pending demand of Assistant Professors has been addressed, the statement added.

Secretary Higher Education Talat Parvez Rohella while congratulating the promotees, said that even during the lockdown to contain COVID-19, the Department is trying to reach out to the students through e-classes.
He exhorted upon the teaching community to put in extra efforts to improve quality of education in J&K.
