In a powerful display of communal harmony, a Kashmiri businessman has offered a plot of land reportedly worth around Rs 1 crore to Jammu resident Kuldeep (Kuldip) Sharma, whose act of generosity towards a Muslim journalist has drawn nationwide praise. Sharma had earlier gifted five marlas of his own land to journalist Arfaz Ahmad Daing, whose house in Jammu was demolished by the Jammu Development Authority, leaving his elderly parents and young children homeless.
The 46-year-old businessman from Pampore in south Kashmir, who prefers to remain anonymous, said he was deeply moved by Sharma’s decision to help Daing “rise above religious lines” at a time of growing social divisions. He has spoken to Sharma over the phone and plans to visit him soon to formally convey the offer of land as a tribute to his humanitarian gesture.
