History Created as Kashmiri Language Feature Film Qouluf, the Ensorcelled is Screened at INOX Srinagar (cinema hall) After 60 Years in Kashmir

Srinagar, October 4, 2024 — In a landmark moment for Kashmiri cinema, Qouluf, the Ensorcelled, directed by Ali Emran and produced by Mrs. Yaqout Mushtaq, was screened today at INOX Srinagar. This momentous occasion marks the first time in 60 years that a Kashmiri language feature film has graced a cinema hall in Kashmir, setting a historic precedent for the revival of Kashmiri language and culture through cinema.

The screening of Qouluf, the Ensorcelled at INOX Srinagar was not just a cinematic event, but a cultural milestone. It reflects a growing resurgence in the region’s indigenous language, highlighting the importance of preserving Kashmiri heritage through storytelling on the big screen.

Set against the backdrop of Kashmir’s mystical landscapes, Qouluf, the Ensorcelled tells a spellbinding story that intricately blends sprituality, tradition, and the richness of Kashmiri culture. This film, made with deep respect for Kashmiri ethos, is a powerful example of local storytelling reaching the mainstream, reestablishing Kashmiri cinema’s place in the world of filmmaking.

Director Ali Emran expressed his gratitude, saying, “This is not just a film, but a love letter to the Kashmiri language and culture. The screening of Qouluf today, after six decades, is a step towards reviving our cinematic voice in the region, and we hope it opens doors for more filmmakers to create in our beautiful language.”

Producer Mrs. Yaqout Mushtaq added, “Today is a testament to our commitment to our language and culture. It’s been a long journey, but we are thrilled that Qouluf has made its mark in history. We hope this is just the beginning of a new era for Kashmiri cinema.”

The screening comes at a time when efforts to promote regional languages and cultures are gaining momentum across India. This historic event will be remembered as a key moment in the revitalization of Kashmiri cinema, encouraging new generations to engage with their cultural roots.
